Planning Meeting
Pack 84 parents, don't forget the annual pack planning meeting next
Tuesday, June 5, 6:00 - 8:00pm in the HRA convent meeting room. Help us
plan the next year of events for Pack84.
Memorial Day Flag Placement
Please make plans to join Pack 84 at the National Cemetery on Gallatin Pike on Saturday morning, May 26th for the annual Flag Placement ceremony. This is a very moving ceremony that I know your scouts will really find interesting and memorable.
We will gather starting at 6:45 am in the K-mart parking lot next to the cemetery. At 7:00 am we will start our walk to the cemetery office. Please make sure your scouts are wearing their Class A uniform shirts. Shorts are ok. You may want to bring a long screwdriver to help make a hole in the ground for each flag.
We usually are finished by 9:00 am. Here are photos from last year's event.

Rank Advancement and Crossover
Our final pack meeting of the 2011-2012 year is next Sunday, May 20th and this will be our rank advancement meeting, the moment that all of our boys have been working so hard to reach! We will also have a crossover ceremony for our Webelos scout who will be graduating from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. Please make sure to attend so you can help celebrate the Scout's accomplishments.
To celebrate this special occasion we've decided to move the meeting from the HRA to the Cook Public Use Area on Percy Priest Lake. We're going to have a picnic and Pack 84 will furnish hotdogs, hamburgers, chips and condiments. Just bring your own drinks for your family and your lawn chairs. Here is a Google Map of the area.
The cost at the park is $4 per carload. The meeting will start at 4pm, please plan to arrive at 3:45 so we can start on time. Please have all scouts wear their Class A uniform shirts. Shorts are fine for this meeting.
Cooks has a swim beach on the lake. If you want to swim with your family, you may do so after the Scout meeting has ended. There are no lifeguards on duty, so all families are responsible for their own safety.
I can't wait to see everyone there, I know it will be a great day.
Stats about Eagle Scouts
As our sons and scouts grow up before our very eyes and many of our Cubs begin the transition it's important to keep their eyes on the goal of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. Here are some pretty amazing facts and figures about Eagle Scouts that you and your scout might find very motivational.

BSA's 2011 Report to the Nation
Did you know that every year, Boy Scouts of America prepares a status report of activities and creates a delegation of scouts to deliver this report to members of congress as well as the President of the United States? BSA does a great job of compiling this information into a easily digestible form as seen here:

Spring camping this weekend
Hi Campers,
Just a reminder that we're camping this weekend at Boxwell Reservation, CAMP CRAIG. When you arrive at Boxwell, drive all the way to the Cripple Crab and veer to the right toward the pool. Before you get to the pool take a left, take that road to the end and take a right. We will be in the Camp Craig activity field. Watch for the Pack 84 signs on the road leading to our camp site. If you're camping Friday night, you can plan to arrive any time after 4:30.
Here's the menu for the weekend.
Friday night: Hamburgers and hotdogs and buns furnished by Pack 84.
Saturday breakfast: cereal, milk, OJ, sausage patties, biscuits, eggs, coffee, hot chocolate
Saturday lunch: vegetable soup, cold cut sandwiches, chips, cookies, apples
Saturday dinner: spaghetti, tomato sauce with meat on side, bread, green beans, s'mores
Sunday breakfast: cereal, milk, OJ, coffee, hot chocolate, danish, doughnuts
There will be plenty of water onsite. Please be sure to bring a water bottle so you can stay hydrated as well as sun screen. Also, don't forget that each camper needs to bring their own plate, bowl, mug and utensils. We will have a dish washing station for you to use.
Here's a link to the Pack 84 camping rules.
Remember: No electronics or video games. No flip-flops or sandals to be worn in camp, we don't want any busted toes. (this doesn't include shower shoes that you may wear to the shower house) There's a chance of rain this weekend so pack extra clothes and socks.
Also, scouts should plan to wear their class A uniform shirt to the Pack meeting we will have Saturday after dinner which will include a flag retirement ceremony.
We could also use some firewood if any parents can bring some.
See ya soon!

Webelos study for their faith achievements
Webelos in Pack 84 Den are almost complete with the faith requirements for their Webelos rank badge. Pack 84's religious emblems coordinator Michelle Vetter works with the boys on various details about their Catholic faith.
March pack meeting photos
Thanks for everyone who came to our March pack meeting to hear from our special guest speaker Oscar Bishop. I hope everyone can make it out to our April camp out on April 20-22nd. I've uploaded some photos from the pack meeting here.
Webelos complete Engineering activity pin
To complete their requirements for their Webelos engineering activity pin, our Webelos scouts recently toured the offices of Gresham Smith in downtown Nashville.
Webelos service project, pulling a few weeds
Our Webelos scouts recently completed a service project for Holy Rosary Church, they spent a nice spring evening pulling weeds from several flower beds around the church office. This was the final step on their path to complete the citizen activity pin.
